How Do I Remove Viruses From my Computer for Free?

First of all for Virus Removal you will need to get an idea of everything you downloaded and when you started to notice the problems on your computer.  This can include popups appearing on your desktop, inability to download antivirus programs, and also adverts covering up original adverts.

To see if you are able to download click this link:

This will take you to the free version of AVG.  If you get a message from internet explorer saying that it could not connect or anything like that then you have a problem. I will tell you what to do in a second

If you can download this program, this is an excellent antivirus software program!  I have found and deleted a rather nasty virus with it but first I had to completely restore my computer.  As I was downloading a program to see if my parents were watching my msn it downloaded a trojan virus and, well,  it caused a few problems.

First of all it set a vimax advert over the original adverts on websites: Particularly runescape
Next it had set up some sort of blocking on internet explorer.  I wasn’t able to download anything.  Most likely mozilla firefox would’ve let me anyways. I’m not sure what other nasty things it had planned for me but I had to completely reinstall vista and luckily it comes with a feature to store all of the old files in a folder and I ran a virus scan and deleted the virus while saving my stuff.

Now back to what you do if you cannot download any antivirus.  Try installing Mozilla Firefox on your computer.  There aren’t very many viruses that will work with Mozilla and Internet Exploder at the same time.  Then click the link and download to try again.  If it works just run a virus scan, when it’s done scanning make sure you copy and paste the location to a text file so you can locate the virus later.  Just simply delete and you’re done!

Now if neither of these work, then you have an even bigger problem and this solution will take you longer.  Locate all the .exe’s in your account, usually where you save downloaded stuff and look on the other accounts for these too.  Then you want to check the names online to see if they are “virus material”.  This is not the only place where these are at though.  You also want to check your Temp folder and your Temporary Internet Files folder.  This will take you a longer amount of time if you have had your operating system running for over a year and are constantly downloading.  Simply it would be easier to just delete the Temp folder and create a new one in its spot.

Also be warned that there are some Viruses that can copy themselves to other parts of your hard drive.  Virus scanning is an absolute must if you want to eradicate all traces of the Virus.
